The Secoya Affect Story
Secoya Affect is a women-led company based in California and Washington, regions where the majestic Sequoia trees thrive. Our name, Secoya, is derived from the Spanish term for Sequoia trees, symbolizing our deep-rooted connection to these natural giants and the values they represent. Inspired by the Sequoias, which stand tall and are interconnected through their root systems, we aim to foster a community that shares resources, supports one another, and grows together.
Secoya also holds significance in the Cherokee language, where it means "sparrow," and is related to the name Sequoia, named after a 19th-century Cherokee chief who developed a writing system for his tribe's language. This heritage underscores our commitment to preserving knowledge and fostering communication within our community.
